THE CONCEPT

For over 10 years, The Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas has provided a unique combination of theatre and restaurant, showing first-run and independent films while offering in-theatre food and beverage service that includes an extensive menu of freshly prepared appetizers, sandwiches, pizzas and salads as well as a wide selection of hand-crafted beers and great wines. We are the only concept in the growing cinema-eatery category that is franchising.

The typical Alamo Drafthouse Cinema has four to ten screens that resemble traditional movie theatres except rows of seats alternate with bench-style tables. Individual theatre seating ranges from 75 to 320 seats. First-come, first-serve seating begins approximately 45 minutes prior to show time. Customers are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy the pre-show entertainment. Instead of a barrage of advertising, a variety of short films are shown that change on a regular basis, some with tie-ins to the feature film.

“We're proud of the fact that we don't show any advertising,” President and CEO John Martin said. “People don't want to pay for a movie and then be bombarded with 15 minutes of dancing candy and fountain drinks.”

Once seated, customers order from the menu and the friendly wait staff brings the food to their seats. Customers can continue to order throughout the movie by writing their requests using the paper and pencils on their table and placing it on the clips attached to the table. Waiters quietly collect and deliver those orders without distracting from the movie. All tabs are closed before the film ends.

THE MOVIES

Your Alamo Drafthouse Cinema will show the best first-run movies. As a movie exhibitor, you are now part of the Entertainment industry showing the best films from the top studios, including Disney, Dream Works, Paramount, Sony, Twentieth Century Fox and Universal, just to name a few.

In addition to first-run movies, you will also supplement your entertainment offerings with specialty programming, popular TV shows and sporting events.

Customers purchase a ticket at the ticket booth similar to traditional movie theatres. Ticket prices are market-rate and there is no minimum food and drink purchase required. Movie times are similar to a traditional movie theatre with four to five shows per day.

THE MENU

We offer an extensive menu of freshly prepared appetizers, sandwiches, pizzas and salads as well as a wide selection of hand-crafted beers and great wines.

“We regularly have articles written on the food, presentation, quality and diverse menu selections in each of our markets,” says President and CEO John Martin. “We are very proud of our handmade dishes.”

The wide-ranging menu includes appetizers such as fried pickles, jalapeno poppers and hot wings and a selection of seven different healthy salads. Nine-inch personal pizzas are best-sellers with names as creative as their taste-tempting ingredients including the “Raging Bull” with pepperoni, Canadian bacon and Italian sausage; the “Moonstruck” Margherita with mozzarella, Romano, parmesan and provolone cheeses topped with fresh tomato and basil and the “Wild At Artichoke Hearts,” an olive oil-based pizza topped with spinach, four different cheeses, sun-dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, roasted garlic and goat cheese.

Sandwich selections include the best-selling Alamo Burger, Philly Cheesesteak, Chicken Pesto Sandwich and Kevin Bacon Lettuce and Tomato. As a healthy alternative, Alamo offers a wide selection of fresh salads and wraps.

When you add the fact that Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas has handcrafted specialty beers on tap as well as a great selection of wines, it all makes for a great combination of food and fun. What's more, instead of spending four hours or more going out to a restaurant and a movie theatre, customers are treated to the best of both worlds with one visit to Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas.

Alamo’s food prices are not priced higher to accommodate the first-run move theatre expenses, whereas traditional multiplexes cover the first-run costs by increasing their popcorn and soda prices. Alamo provides a high value proposition versus the standard multiplexes, another important differentiating aspect of the Alamo brand.

THE ULTIMATE VENUE

The Alamo Drafthouse venue projects a strong, recognizable image. Casual and laid back, the neon and metal signage features the “Alamo” name vertically displayed above a horizontally stacked “Drafthouse.”

Inside, classic movie images combine with casual décor to create an atmosphere that’s nostalgic, upbeat, and inviting. Contemporary stone accent walls and an attractive stamped concrete floor are easy to clean and maintain. These features, along with updated restrooms and other details, reflect Alamo Drafthouse Cinema’s focus on quality and art.
