“The root of Alamo’s success is in its love for movies. They’ve created a concept that appeals to other film freaks and to movie-goers craving a more exciting and inspiring experience. Milk Duds® and Twizzlers® won’t suffice an Alamo moviegoer. That’s why the Alamo serves dinner and drinks during each show. Because real movie freaks disdain on-screen advertising, the Alamo doesn’t show them—never will. Instead, the Alamo creates its own wacky pre-show entertainment full of homemade commercial spoofs and wacky previews from obscure and offbeat films. The Alamo is so cool, Quentin Tarantino chooses to host his own movie festival at the Alamo every year.“

Excerpt from Business Blogger – John Moore of Brand Autopsy

THE ALAMO BRAND:

“We feel that the traditional movie theatre industry has become a commodity business.” says President and CEO John Martin. “Typical moviegoers cannot tell one large chain from the next. People are passionate about movies, but not about movie theatres. In 1997, the Alamo founders set out to change all that.”

“The Alamo Drafthouse has done something that no other theatre concept has been able to do – brand the experience” says Bob Mueller of Paramount Pictures.

The Alamo Drafthouse style is unique and highly identifiable. With many sustainable features and a casual culture, we’re able to connect with customers in ways that make our brand both appealing and memorable. Intrinsic to the Alamo brand, our focus on artistic offerings is evident in our carefully selected films, homemade pre-show entertainment, distinctive microbrews, and superb food. It all adds up to what Entertainment Weekly calls, “One of America’s most fanatically unique moviegoing experiences.”

SPECIAL EVENTS:

Special screenings like the “Food & Film Events” continue to be a strong draw for Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas. When the original location opened in downtown Austin, Texas, it showed only independent and specialty films and Alamo remains devoted to that niche.

Events include sports broadcasts, Weird Wednesday, Terror Thursdays, Sing-A-Longs, Open Screen Night and the ever-popular TV Party at the Alamo: Watch some of your television favorites on a really big screen. Previous special showings include Lost, Battlestar Galactica, 24 and American Idol.

Food & Film Feasts

In addition to our regular menu, the Alamo is known for its special “Food & Film Events,” featuring gourmet menus created by expert chefs to perfectly complement both classic films and the hottest new releases.

Pairing films with extraordinary food and wine specials results in some delectable offerings including The Godfather Feast, featuring a sumptuous handmade menu of Italian favorites; The Lord of the Rings trilogy featuring nine meals, one at every Hobbit eating time; The Blues Brothers Gospel Brunch and the Sideways Feast, based on the Oscar-winning 2004 movie about two men reaching middle age who embark on a weeklong road trip through California's wine country, that featured each wine served in the movie along with the classic French dish, Coq au Vin.

Corporate events

The distinctive Alamo setting makes it a perfect choice for corporate events, birthday parties, banquets, private screenings and more. The magic of the big screen makes your facility an ideal setting for powerful presentations. With state-of-the-art AV capabilities, your franchise will accommodate a multitude of situations and garner another revenue stream.
